the big damn blog - miami, laredo, seattle, oh my!

hello everyone! after a crazy long month of doing everything under the sun, i’ve finally gotten around to doing a blog that’s inevitably going to turn out being the length of a novel.

it was my first time in Miami, and I was absolutely flabbergasted at the utter craziness. I thought I would have a lot more time than I did to just hang around at the beach, go shopping, etc… - but I spent so much time just seeing people and doing stuff that I’m glad I didn’t actually register! :P I spent a good chunk of my time hanging out with the Shawn Mitiska, Matt Cerf, and Jaren crew - it was the first time I’ve met any of them and we had such a fantastic time. I was also chilling with Gabriel & Dresden and Francis Preve a bunch too. it was a lot of fun getting to know everyone. i’m not going to do a play-by-play of the Pawn Shop show, but everyone that was there knows that it was a damn good night - I need not say any more :) it was wonderful meeting people down there - I felt all famous when I was recognized (twice, but who’s counting?) needless to say it was all fairly shortlived - five days felt like two hours - but I can’t wait to go back and do it all again next year. I think next time there’s going to be a lot more happening!

after coming back to Detroit from Miami, I spent a solid three days at the day job and then hopped onto a plane to San Antonio the next morning. there was a bit of a shitstorm involving getting there - including, but not limited to, missing my flight, delays, and two hours in a non-airconditioned car (IN TEXAS. I’m blaming this one on Bruce. just ’cause i can :D), but eventaully I got there all in one piece and played a fantastic show, even though I broke a blacklight by jumping into it. a HUGE thanks goes out to everyone who came out to that show as it was truly my first experience playing for an involved crowd - I can’t wait to come back and do it again! more thanks goes out to Big Lou, Bruce, Dirce, and Cornflakes - you guys really made the whole thing happen!

the next morning we drove to the airport and I took off for Seattle. after more delays, two long flights, and using every ounce of will that I had to not start sobbing to Dreamgirls (six times…), I arrived in Seattle. Jason LeMaitre, my own personal opener (and fantastic uberfriend), along with his girlfriend Jamie picked me up at the airport and we went straight downtown to set up. one of my long-time friends from Los Angeles, who flew up JUST to see me (Rob, you rock) met up with us and we got some sushi. after filling our bellies with yummy fishy goodness we went back to the club to play. the whole night was just unreal: Jason played a perfect set and prepped me for some dance-floor destruction, and I was really proud of my performance. eveyone that came out was digging it so much I stayed on an extra 40 minutes and played some favorites - so thank you so much to everyone who came out that night. I was given the star treatment that I hardly believe I deserve, and next time it’s going to be bigger and better! I have a bunch of pictures that Rob took from that night over here:

some of which have made it to my myspace. videos to come! (ahem. Rob.)

big BIG thanks goes to Jason, Jamie, Rob, Drue, Janna, and Trevor for making it all happen and making it a hundred times better than I imagined it could be. we’re already planning a second trip, so get ready :D

after staying in town a couple days, I took a red eye home, then I came back home and crawled into my bed for three days. the end!

I have a lot more news concerning a ton of music and the releasage thereof, but I’ll save that for a post tomorrow….I need to take baby steps with this thing. alley oop!
