Josh Gabriel – Alive [HQ]
US progressive trance duo Gabriel and Dresden recently split up, and Josh Gabriel is the first of the pair to reveal his new solo sound post break-up, with the track ‘Tone Program’ on his new label Different Pieces.
Clearly Josh Gabriel is serious about his new solo embarkation as ‘Tone Program’ is quite different to Gabriel & Dresden’s signature progressive sound.
Gone are the euphoric, vocal tinged melodies and trance overtones – instead ‘Tone Program’ is a rough electronic house cut – the kind of chunky floor-filling house groove that James Zabiela might play.
Its lead synth sounds like it came from a computer game, and the beats are heavy loopy techno.
Josh Gabriel has always been the darker of the Gabriel & Dresden pair, and his techno smash ‘Summit’ from last year proved that he had an urge to work alone.
