Enya – Trains and Winter Rains from album And Winter Came + Lyrics

And Winter Came… is the upcoming seventh full-length studio album from Irish New Age singer Enya. The album was announced by Enya via her official site on September 12, 2008, and is set for release on November 10, 2008.[1] The songs on the album primarily have a Christmas or winter theme.

The album will consist of 12 tracks: ten English songs, which are all original compositions, plus “Oíche Chiúin” being sung in Gaelic and ‘”Oh Come, Oh Come Emmanuel” in Latin. “Oíche Chiúin” is a version of the standard “Silent Night” and is a rare occasion of Enya re-recording a previously released track; she had previously released the song in the early 1990s.

An announcement on Enya’s official website, http://www.enya.com, on September 18, 2008 confirmed that the first single off the album, also to be released on November 10, will be “Trains and Winter Rains”.[2]

There was a launch party for the album and is described as “…the prestige confines of 2 Temple Place, which was brilliantly decorated for the occasion, in the theme of the album with snow falling and a huge white horse bringing to mind scenes from Russia in the 19th century.” It was confirmed that the track ‘My! My! Time Flies!’ will be a tribute to the late Jimmy Faulkner. The track will probably be the third single off the album, but the second is unknown at this time.[3]

City Streets passing by,
Underneath stormy skies.

Neon signs in the night,
Red and blue city lights.
Cargo trains rolling by,
Once again someone cries.

Trains and winter rains,
No going by, No going home.
Trains across the plains,
And in the sky, the star alone.

Everytime, it’s the same.
One more night, one more train.
Everywhere empty roads,
Where they go, no one knows.

Trains and winter rains,
No going by, No going home.
Trains across the plains,
And in the sky, the star alone.

Da, da, da, da…

Trains and winter rains,
No going by, No going home.
Trains across the plains,
And in the sky, the star alone.

Trains and winter rains,
No going by, No going home.
Trains across the plains,
And in the sky, the star alone.

  1. Does anyone know what the background vocals are for Trains and Winter Rains–the ones that sound like train whistles, etc. Is it just mouth music?
