Bjork – It’s In Our Hands (LIVE @ ROYAL OPERA HOUSE)

I’ve loved her for two decades now and she never ceases to amaze me.

Bjork: “Madonna Got My Lyrics Wrong”

Bjork has revealed that Madonna sang the wrong lyrics on the 1995 single she wrote for the pop queen.

The Icelandic star penned lyrics for ‘Bedtime Story’, which Madonna took to number four in the charts in February 1995, at the request of producer Nellee Hooper.

However, she was surprised when she first heard Madonna’s recording of the song.

She told Attitude: “She did her own version and wrote the lyrics wrong. I can’t remember right now, but it was a really interesting mistake.

“It was something like “Let’s say goodbye to logic and reason” and she got it wrong so that it actually meant the opposite….I was like, ‘Okay…’”

EARTH INTRUDERS VIDEO

Björk – “Earth Intruder” Lyrics

First is “Earth Intruder,” the first track off of Björk’s upcoming Volta album. Björk has been promising a more upbeat album, and this first song proves she meant it. The song takes an alien’s point of view, sorta like the sequel to “Human Behavior” (lyrics below) and gives a metallic scatman rhythm last seen on “Cvalda” from her Selma Song soundtrack to Dancer in the Dark.

“Earth Intruder” Lyrics

We are the earth intruders
We are the earth intruders
Muddy with twigs and branches

Turmoil
Carnage

Here come the earth intruders
We are the paratroopers
The beat of sharpshooters
Comes straight from voodoo

With our feet thumbing
With our feet marching
Grinding the skeptics into the soil

Shower of goodness coming to end the doubt
Pouring over
Shower of goodness coming to end

We are the earth intruders
We are the sharpshooters
Flock of parachuters
Necessary voodoo

I have guided my bones through some voltage
And love them still
And love them too

Metallic
Carnage
Furiousity
Feel the speed

We are the earth intruders
We are the sharpshooters
Flock of parachuters
Necessary voodoo

There is turmoil out there
Carnage
Rambling
What is to do but dig
Dig bones out of earth

Mud graves

Timber
Morbid trenches

Here come the earth intruders
There’ll be no resistance
We are the cannoneerers
Necessary voodoo

And the beast with many heads and arms rolling
Steamroller

We are the earth intruders
We are the earth intruders
Muddy with twigs and branches

Forgive this tribe

We are the earth intruders
We are the earth intruders
Muddy with twigs and branches

We are the earth intruders
Muddy with twigs and branches

We are the earth intruders

We are the earth intruders
Muddy with twigs and branches
Marching

We are the earth intruders
Muddy with twigs and branches
Marching
March
March
March
We are the earth intruders
Muddy with twigs and branches
Marching voodoo

Björk – Volta

Album cover of Volta (2007).

Björk’s sixth full-length studio album Volta, a follow-up to 2004‘s Medúlla, will be released on May 7, 2007. It has been written and produced entirely by Björk herself and will feature ten new tracks. It will feature input from:

from [14]: “One Little Indian is preparing for what it expects to become the biggest-selling Bjork album yet, thanks to a new Timbaland-inspired commercial direction and the promotion of an 18-month world tour. The album Volta is released on May 7. The first single off the album, Earth Intruders, is due for release on April 9. Bjork is preparing to work the album extensively. The tour will be announced this Friday and dates are already confirmed for Glastonbury, Coachella and Roskilde.

One Little Indian managing director Derek Birkett is hugely excited by the sales potential of the album. “It’s probably the most commercial thing she’s ever done,” he says. “It’s really up and happy and the collaborations are extraordinary”. Birkett is also surprised by the willingness of Bjork to tour so extensively, which will see her go round the world on a month-on month-off basis. “If someone had told me six months ago, I wouldn’t have believed it,” he says. “The plans for the tour are mind-blowing- Bjork’s devised her own set and will have 30 musicians on stage”.

Björk will also be touring for the first time in four years in support of the upcoming album; the majority of confirmed performances so far are at festivals. Drummer Darrin Costin has been working with Björk on her forthcoming tour.[5]

Björk has also collaborated on tracks with the following artists, the status of which are as yet unknown.

  • Michael Pärt has been “assisting at writing stages and involved in production and recording”.[6]
  • Damian Taylor, programmer on Vespertine, has worked with Björk on material for her new album.[7]
  • Meredith Monk and Björk have worked together on a collaborative piece.[8]

Björk is also contributing songs to several forthcoming releases by other artists, the majority of which are to be released in early 2007.

  • Björk.com has just confirmed her North American dates of her world tour which kicks off on May 2.
